As you’ve probably figured out by now, The Walt Disney Company company really, really likes making money, and have got very good at it too. So while the fans are understandably excited about the launch of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in two parks later this year, the new extension comes at a price.
Though the region isn’t scheduled to open in Disneyland, California, until this summer, the resort is seeing one of its biggest ever price increases come into effect this Sunday, with ticket costs inflating by up to 25 percent. This added expense will apply to daily and annual ticket prices, parking and more. In an interview with the LA Times, Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Liz Jaeger offered the following explanation:
“We continue to provide our guests with a variety of ticket offerings to meet their needs, while helping us to spread visitation, better manage demand and deliver a great experience.”
While a lot of Disney fans won’t be too happy with the news, you can bet that plenty of these same detractors will be reaching for their wallets all the same, with Galaxy’s Edge promising to be an immersive experience for visitors.
The highly anticipated expansion is set to debut two new rides. Firstly, you have the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, which allows visitors to pilot Han Solo’s ship for a flight that’s different every time. What’s more, you have Rise of the Resistance, which has been described by Disney as “the biggest and most immersive Disney Parks attraction ever.”
Sounds promising, but fans can judge for themselves if the region is worth the extra expense when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland this summer, before coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in the fall.
