D23 kicked off today and one of the most hotly-anticipated reveals at the Expo is Disney Plus. The upcoming streaming service, that’s sure to be the downfall of Netflix, will bring together all of the Mouse House’s assets in one place online. And this new trailer for the platform up above teases everything that’s coming.
While it doesn’t feature any new footage, the preview should get just about any Disney fans excited by simply reminding us how much will be available on the service. There’s the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for one, and all of Star Wars. Then there’s the whole back catalogue of Disney animated movies – even the vaulted classics.
Also, let’s not forget about every movie Pixar’s ever made. Oh, and The Simpsons, which they’ve just got from Fox. All 30 seasons of the show will be up on Disney Plus from launch day. Plus, there’ll be 5,000 episodes of Disney Channel series, too.
The Disney Plus panel at D23 revealed a few new TV shows as well. These include a Lizzie McGuire sequel series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (yes, that’s the real title), Forky Asks a Question – spinning off from Toy Story 4 – and Monsters at Work, another one from Pixar. New movies such as the Lady in the Tramp remake, Anna Kendrick Christmas flick Noelle and a Phineas & Ferb film are likewise in the works.
Then, of course, there’s The Mandarlorian and all those MCU shows that were previously announced to arrive across 2020 and 2021. In other words, there’s going to be a ton of content on Disney Plus and it’d be wise to subscribe to the service when it goes live this November so you don’t miss out on anything.
