UPDATE: The Mouse House has finally gotten the finger out and remembered that the movie did in fact premiere on Disney Plus today, even if it took somewhere between 9 and 11 hours after its arrival, depending on what coast you live on. The original story follows.
As you no doubt have been made aware, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now streaming on Disney Plus. However, one place where you won’t have gotten that information is from the streaming service’s official social media channels with the morning now marching into the afternoon.
Neither the platform’s official Twitter handle or Instagram page have offered so much as a hint that the 31st installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now available at the push of a button, while the best the UK-based account could muster was a retweet from Marvel’s UK & Ireland timeline on the bird app.
The latter might go a long way to explaining why, though, seeing as the brief promo clip in question opens with footage of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, with both the Mouse House and Marvel Studios remaining radio silent on the actor since he was first hit with abuse allegations that are heading back to the courtroom early next month.
There’s also the fact Quantumania is one of the MCU’s worst-reviewed movies ever – as well as one of its biggest money-losers and single lowest-grossing sequel of all-time – so maybe it’s a good thing the streamer hasn’t done a thing to remind anyone not in the loop that the third entry in the series is now on-demand.
Of course, there’s a chance somebody might remember and push out a celebratory tweet or at least an acknowledgement, but based on how Quantumania has been treated since first landing in theaters back in February, maybe the company will just take it at face value that subscribers will tune in of their own volition.
