Ever since the allegations of misconduct against Jonathan Majors went public, Marvel Studios has decided that the best approach is to simply pretend the actor doesn’t exist, even though he was very recently right up there on the screen as the big bad of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
While the company has yet to comment on the situation in an official capacity – something that’s being repeated as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debutant Tenoch Huerta finds himself in an unfortunately similar boat – the Disney-owned comic book conglomerate has instead decided to sweep the Creed III alum’s presence entirely under the rug.
The promotional materials hyping Quantumania‘s arrival first on digital and on-demand and then ultimately Disney Plus completely omitted any footage featuring Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, while he was also excised from the official synopsis for good measure to try and avoid any blowback to celebrating a performance that was initially very well-received.
Compounding matters even further, the Marvel Studios: Assembled special revolving around Peyton Reed’s altogether underwhelming threequel was supposed to be added to the streaming service’s content library yesterday, having been announced for a June 14 debut a while back. However, it was nowhere to be found, and the Mouse House has yet to unveil when it’s going to be made available.
There could be any number of reasons why, but given that Majors more than likely shot plenty of talking head soundbites and played the principal antagonist, it’s not hard to join the dots and assume that his involvement is the driving force.
