As we get closer to the release of The Dark Knight Rises, Dew Gotham City continues with the viral campaign, this time with some interesting email exchanges and a police evaluation report of Officer John Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
We all have our doubts about John Blake. We know he’s a cop, but we just can’t seem to accept that’s all there is to it, there seems to be some sort of twist hidden in his story.
Today sees the release of an evaluation report on his character and some fans have pointed out that he sounds a lot like Bruce Wayne. He’s not a major team player but his ethical behavior is given the highest score. He also requests a transfer to the Narrows Division, which if you remember, is where Arkham Asylum is located.
John Blake isn’t the only one to be worried about though. Ever since Marion Cotillard was cast, fans have been speculating that she is actually Talia Al Ghul, daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul who was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins.
Cotillard has denied that rumor but us fans are not convinced. Now an email exchange states that the Central Library in Gotham City will be named after Cotillard’s character, Miranda Tate, a “lady who just got on the board of Wayne Enterprises.” Is there anything significant there or are we just building up to the something that doesn’t exist?
The email also mentions Paul Daggett, a person in a position of power at Wayne Enterprises, who hires mercenaries to take over African diamond mines by force. Bane and his men perhaps? It’s also revealed that many burglaries have been taking place in Gotham, which is no doubt Catwoman’s work.
Overall the viral marketing for the film so far has been stellar. They’re keeping us excited while still not giving anything away, it’s very well executed and it has undoubtedly heightened the anticipation for the film.
The Dark Knight Rises makes its way to theaters on July 20, 2012 and all will be revealed then.
