Dean Norris Joins Ridley Scott’s The Counselor

Breaking Bad has done wonders for the careers of actors who have, until now, been reserved for small parts, unnoticeable parts in bigger productions that drown their talents. Breaking Bad has done wonders for the careers of actors who have, until now, been reserved for small, unnoticeable parts in bigger productions that drown their talents. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have benefitted immensely from the newly gained critical power and now actor Dean Norris seems to be feeding off the new found recognition himself. The actor who plays DEA agent Hank Schrader in the show has joined Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.

The film, written by acclaimed writer Cormac McCarthy, follows a lawyer who goes into the drug trade, oblivious to the effects it could have on his life. It’s a film which doesn’t sound like much of a hop, skip and a jump away from the world of Breaking Bad to be honest, but it’s nice to see Norris get recognition from a celebrated director such as Ridley Scott. The part which he will play has not been revealed as of yet but considering all the major roles have been cast, it is most likely that Norris will appear in a supporting role.

Although originally set to shoot as soon as the press rounds for Prometheus were done, Michael Fassbender’s commitments to Twelve Years a Slave meant production on The Counselor has been pushed back to a September start.

No word yet on a release date but it will most likely hit in the summer of next year.

Norris will star in The Counselor alongside Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
