If the myriad of reports to sweep the internet are to be believed, and there’s no reason why they wouldn’t when it’s hardly a game-changing rumor, Deadpool 3 officially began principal photography yesterday.
Now that cameras are rolling on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first R-rated installment, it surely won’t be long until set photos begin emerging that reveal many of the new and returning faces set to join Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine on what’s sure to be a raucous, irreverent, fourth wall-breaking adventure that may or may not end up being pivotal to the Multiverse Saga at large.
However, there’s an ominous cloud being cast over the production already, one that harks back to the ill-fated X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Summarily dismissed as a “trash fire” by Reynolds that did at least work out in the long run, one of the many issues to plague Jackman’s first solo movie is that it was seriously affected by the 2007-08 writers’ strike, which is admittedly just one of many reasons why the screenplay was so terribly half-baked.
Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself, though, seeing as Deadpool 3 has coincidentally become the second X-Men-adjacent blockbuster starring Hollywood’s favorite frenemies that’s began rolling immediately after scribes across the industry took to the picket lines.
It’s already been reported that Reynolds’ improv-heavy style might not fly under the rules and regulations currently in play, but there surely can’t be a chance in hell it turns out anything like one of the most notorious and widely-lambasted comic book adaptations of the last decade and a half.
