Lately, people aren’t as excited to see Marvel projects in cinema and television as they used to be. A number of the company’s recent projects have received mixed receptions, and, of projects coming up, only Deadpool 3 has really generated a strong buzz. Though, now, this may be changing thanks to Wolverine.
For those who have not paid attention, Hugh Jackman is coming back to his signature role in the 2024 project (this time in the yellow suit, to the joy of longtime fans the world over). The rumored multiversal road trip story harkens back to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s returns in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and, as the above post on Reddit argues, this may frustrate casual audiences when Marvel might want to move on. This has happened to a degree with Maguire and Garfield being the products of fan hopes for returns since they initially reprised their heroic roles, but one user thinks X-Men are different.
Given leaked photos from the film’s set have shown the ruins of the old 20th Century Fox logo, this is certainly possible. Other parts of the replies to the initial worrying post continue to back the suggestion the film will be a swansong for these versions of the beloved comic book characters and, while the Maguire-Garfield scenario is seen by some as similar to the Fox work, a different fan views the situation differently. Here, the characters are completed and did not end unfinished at first like the Spider-Men.
Whatever the case, audiences do not have much longer to wait. Assuming there are no further delays or bumps up on the schedule, Deadpool 3 will release May 3, 2024. Apart from Jackman and star Ryan Reynolds returning, others brought back include Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios, Rob Delaney as the regular human being Peter from Deadpool 2, and even Karan Soni as Deadpool’s driver/sidekick Dopinder.
