Following in the humongous footsteps of Avengers: Infinity War is nothing new to the Merc with a Mouth. First, Wade Wilson shifted the release date of Deadpool 2 to coincide within the proverbial box office shadow of the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed feature and now, the wearer of “the big red body condom” is copycatting the promotional strategy of the depleted supergroup.
Scheduled to make the intergalactic journey to home video next month (August 14th), Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released a snippet of the Avengers: Infinity War gag reel online last week to help promote the film becoming available on Digital HD. And now, with Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut on the horizon, Fox has done the same.
Slated for an August 21st street date – with fifteen minutes of extra footage, no less – the home release of Deadpool 2 will feature audio commentary, in addition to both the theatrical and unrated extended version of the movie. But we all know the gag reel is the best bit of owning any feature-length film physically and now, you can check out a piece of the foul-mouthed mercenary and his superhuman supergroup being silly before adding it your personal collection.
The roughly fifty-second excerpt – which you can watch above – showcases Cable (Josh Brolin) Domino (Zazie Beetz), Dopinder (Karan Soni) and, of course, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) having about as much fun as you’d imagine they had during the production of the sequel. It’s a bit on the short side, but still acts as a great tease for what’s to come.
The proud owner of the fifth spot on 2018’s global gross chart, Deadpool 2 has earned more than $300 million stateside this year and went on to eclipse $700 million worldwide. As for The Super Duper Cut, it’ll be available digitally tomorrow and August 21st on Blu-ray/DVD.
