Earlier this week, a fan revealed on Reddit that Zack Snyder recently liked a post on Vero pertaining to a screening of Justice League. However, this was no ordinary showing; it was a screening of the fabled director’s cut. An excerpt from the blurb liked by Snyder reads, “everyone deserves to see it as I did. Release the Snyder cut.”
Far and away, this is the closest we’ve come to confirmation that a Snyder cut of Justice League does indeed exist. Zack, whose films such as Watchmen and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, have received the director’s cut treatment, while indirectly supportive of the movement, has yet to give the fandom something official. As such, all we can do is speculate at the moment.
That being said, we do appear to be inching towards a resolution on the matter. Jay Olivia, who served as a storyboard artist on Snyder’s Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, spoke to Zack’s blueprint for Justice League recently.
In an interaction with an overzealous fan on Twitter, Olivia, director of the acclaimed animated Batman films, The Dark Knight Returns – Part 1 and Part 2, was asked to comment on Snyder’s plans for the 2017 blockbuster. Without getting into specifics, Olivia said it was “epic, grand, emotional, joyful and unforgettable….”
Regrettably, the director never got the chance to share his plan for the DCEU with the fans, but his commitment to DC minutia is admirable nonetheless. He recently expunged the significance of the Knightmare vision experienced by Bruce Wayne in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, too, which is definitely worth checking out if you’re in favor of the Snyder cut.
