David Harbour confirms ‘Thunderbolts’ is on hiatus by taking a trip to Disneyland

What a way to find out.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Marvel Studios has been in some hot water as of late; as if the shaky start to Phase Five wasn’t enough, the controversy surrounding one of its former top executives in Victoria Alonso and once-linchpin performer Jonathan Majors has sent the studio out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Unfortunately, there appears to be no end in sight for the bad news, but at least David Harbour is making the most of it.

In a recent Instagram post, the Black Widow and Thunderbolts star revealed that, given the current hiatus of the latter, he was spending his time indulging the wonders of the most magical place on Earth, not realizing that the delay of Thunderbolts was apparently news to many people.

Indeed, Harbour’s post quickly became flooded with comments that were equal parts panic and confusion over the current state of the first big team-up movie of the Multiverse Saga, which was already no stranger to internal problems after Hannah John-Kamen’s mysterious disappearance from the official cast list raised more than a few questions.

The hiatus is likely due to the ongoing writers’ strike, which has caused a number of productions to shut down in solidarity with the underpaid backbone of Hollywood. Should that be the case, then this hiatus is ultimately a good thing; if the storytellers continue to be mistreated, it stands to reason that no stories should see the light of day until that changes.

Thunderbolts is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on July 26, 2024, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being pushed back a bit.
