After dazzling audiences with The Social Network, director David Fincher is looking to give us a faithful adaptation of the hit swedish film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. News on the film has been quiet as of late but today we have a bit of new information. Deadline is reporting that a red band trailer for the film is already playing overseas and a green band version will be arriving in North America next week (June 2).

According to reports on IMDB, the film is going to be a faithful to the novel and the original film. Check out what this user had to say about the trailer.

So a few thoughts on this, anyone that is worried about it not following the Orginal/book can put that worry to bed. This looks to be as graphic if not more then the orginal. The trailer consists of a bunch of quick cuts of scenes from the film. Alot of things from the Orginal that we only see in still photos and hear characters talk about are actually filmed and shown. Any worry about Rooney Mara not looking the part don’t need to worry. There is a shot in the trailer of her topless pulling on a shirt much like Noomi Rapace does in the others. Mara looks the part for sure. Skinny as Rapace, only thing it looks like they may have done is toned down the punk look some. But not alot. Not sure what else to say other then the trailer was very intense, it was set to Led Zeppelins immigrant song.

While many are still questioning why the original even had to be remade, the report from IMDB seems promising. I like how the user notes that it’s intense, which is something I hope translates to the final cut. It’s also hopeful that they mention Mara looking the part, which was a concern for a lot of people when she was first cast.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the trailer for myself and if you’ve seen it, please comment and let us know what you thought.

Rooney Mara stars as Lisbeth Salander in the film with Daniel Craig playing Mikael Blomkvist, heading a cast which includes Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff and Robin Wright.
