Daniel Radcliffe has announced that he will be playing Allen Ginsberg in an upcoming real-life thriller called Kill Your Darlings, just days after he made a cryptic statement claiming that he would play a gay character sometime in 2012.
Here’s the synopsis of the film according to Twitch, who broke the news of Radcliffe’s casting:
A thriller based on actual events, Kill Your Darlings revolves around the relationship between Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr. Carr, for his part, is credited for connecting Ginsberg, Kerouac and William S Burroughs but, most notoriously, served time for the 1944 murder of his lover David Kammerer.
In 2009, it was reported that Ginsberg would be played by Jesse Eisenberg, while Chris Evans would be Jack Kerouac and Ben Whishaw would be Lucien Carr. Eisenberg is apparently out of the picture now, but whether or not the other two remain on-board is unknown.
Radcliffe will begin working on Kill Your Darlings right after his stint on Broadway, starring in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, making this his next film. He has long-since wrapped up The Woman In Black, which will hit theaters on February 3.
