Does anyone else feel like they have already seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2? With the sheer number of TV spots, promos, trailers, and images that have been released in advance of the film’s premiere, I’m not certain that there’s going to be anything in the actual movie that has not already been teased or shown outright in the promotional material.
Today we get our first glimpse at Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) as the Green Goblin. Most of us of course already knew that Osborn would eventually step into his Daddy’s shoes, but until now it had not been clear if that would happen in The Amazing Spiderman 2, itself already a film loaded down with villains.
Well, now we know. Harry will go green, and fight our hero in the interior of a big clock. DeHaan looks suitably menacing/crazy in this image, which bodes well. I suppose we must ask ourselves if this will happen early in the film, or be fodder for the next installment in the franchise.
The latest intentional spoiler comes, apparently without irony, from Sony’s anti-piracy campaign “Moments Worth Paying For.” The campaign was launched to encourage viewers to actually go to the movies and pay for a ticket, rather than illegally download a bootleg copy of a film. A worthy argument, but Sony has successfully shown us just about everything that happens in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 of their own volition. We know the villains, we know the plot, and we even know some of the potential reveals. Unless they are holding something back, the film is not exactly going to be full of surprises.
You can check out both the latest image of DeHaan and the “Moments Worth Paying For” campaign trailer below. Then let us know what you think about the new Green Goblin in the comments section.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens everywhere May 2.
