Brian Braddock is a name that’s often tossed around when discussing those heroes and villains not yet featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He is, of course, better known as his musclebound alter-ego Captain Britain, and it seems that Marvel has at least discussed the possibility of adding Brian Braddock to the MCU in the not-so-distant future. Whether those early talks pan out is another question entirely, but while chatting to HeyUGuys in anticipation of Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s launch on July 7th, the studio’s head honcho Kevin Feige was presented with the possibility of Captain Britain’s inclusion.
In short, Cap has come up in conversation multiple times before, but at least for now, there are no concrete plans to adapt the story of Captain Britain to the big screen.
We have discussed it,” Feige told Hey U Guys. “There are a lot of actors that come in and ask about that part, so we’ll have to see.
It’s not off the table, then, even if it borders on wishful thinking. Speaking of which, talented concept artist BossLogic has already gone ahead and rendered a new piece that imagines Christian Bale in spandex. To his credit, The Dark Knight actor has been fairly vocal about the superhero genre in the past, stating in no uncertain terms that he has no desire to play another character after donning the cape and cowl for Christopher Nolan. But, should Bale have a sudden change of heart, it’s fair to say that the actor would look the part as the great Brian Braddock.
So, there you have it; Captain Britain may well be shoehorned into the MCU at some point further down the line. Indeed, if Brian Braddock does have a place in Phase 4, Marvel is unlikely to announce anything official until the launch of Avengers 4 in 2019, but we’ll be keeping you right up-to-date nonetheless.
