After years of hints, promises, delays and clues, it looks as if an adaptation of Marvel’s lesser-known creation, Ant Man (though he is still member of The Avengers), may be on the verge of hitting the big screen.
AICN first reported about a mysterious tweet from Edgar Wright (who is writing and would potentially helm the film) which included this very revealing but still utterly abstruse image:
Accompanying the photo was the equally ambiguous message that read “Received this in the mail. What can it mean?”
After the massive success of The Avengers, it seems like apt timing for Marvel to announce they are moving forward with this smaller-budgeted project, not to mention Bleeding Cool just recently interviewed Kevin Feige about this film’s status, to which he replied:
It’s somewhere. I’ll just say it’s closer than it’s ever been in its long maybe eight year history, and I usually e-mail Edgar every two or three days and over those eight years its got further away and closer… we are now closer than we’ve ever been. So I hope it will come together shortly.
If all these tidbits add up, it would be great news for Ant Man fans that have been kept out of the loop for too long now. Edgar Wright is best known for writing and directing acclaimed comedies Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, as well as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Even for non comic fans who couldn’t care less about another superhero adaptation, movie buffs should be just as excited due to Wright’s involvement alone.
