Creepy First Footage From Park Chan-Wook’s Stoker

Today, thanks to The Film Stage, we have the first teaser for Stoker   Park Chan-Wook‘s Hollywood directorial debut. And although the footage is only about 45 seconds long, the film already has the potential to be very, very good.

With a screenplay penned by Wentworth Miller, Stoker tells the story of a widowed mother (Nicole Kidman) and her young daughter India (Mia Wasikowska), who are visited by India’s mysterious uncle, Charlie (Matthew Goode). People subsequently start to go missing and, judging from the short clip, it looks like Charlie is very much involved.

I am a big fan of Park’s Oldboyand am interested in this film primarily because he’s at the helm. But this teaser (cheesy narration aside) is certainly raising my expectations; it gives a chilling vibe that I already love. Wasikowska is a great choice for the eccentric – if creepy – India, and Kidman looks to be terrific as her estranged and unstable mother.

Stoker is set for release on March 1st, 2013.
