Between them, Split and Jordan Peele’s directorial debut Get Out have cemented their respective status as two of 2017’s more memorable sleeper hits. The first, directed by Hollywood’s master of suspense M. Night Shyamalan, proved to be so successful – $221.9 million from a budget of just $9m – that the filmmaker is getting the chance to complete his mind-bending trilogy with the release of Glass. Expect that one to debut in 2019.
Get Out, on the other hand, is more of a self-contained thrill ride, one in which Daniel Kaluuya’s Chris comes into contact with the step-parents from hell. It’s a gripping, mesmerizing tale that manages to deftly balance horror with social commentary, and Get Out will no doubt be fondly remembered by genre fans as a cracking debut from Jordan Peele.
If you’ve yet to catch Peele’s nail-biting thriller, don’t fret; Get Out is on the verge of hitting Blu-ray and DVD, and We Got This Covered is giving one reader the chance to win a Blu-ray copy, which comes packing a raft of special features.
