Here at We Got This Covered, we love R-rated American horror films. After all, they’re becoming increasingly hard to find these days, but whenever one releases theatrically and nationwide, we’ll always be there to support it.
That leads us to Marcus Dunstan’s The Collector and its sequel, The Collection. Dunstan and writer Patrick Melton’s Saw-meets-slasher flicks were loaded with practical blood and enough gore to satisfy any horror fan and yet, they went relatively unnoticed at the time of their release.
Thankfully, then, in the years since, both efforts have found a cult following of sorts, with many now seeing The Collector as “an effectively-made low-budget horror movie that took a creative spin on the Saw mentality” and The Collection presenting a solid house-of-horrors blood-bath. And so, that’s why we’re beyond thrilled to learn today that a third film is now in the works.
As teased by franchise star Josh Stewart and later confirmed by multiple outlets, we’ll indeed be seeing The Collector 3 at some point in the near future, though an exact release date still eludes us. Likewise, while we presume it’ll pick up where The Collection left off, no plot details have been revealed just yet.
What we can tell you, however, is that Stewart will return (obviously) and Dunstan will be back behind the camera to complete the trilogy. Beyond that, we don’t know much, but just the very fact that another Collector film is on the way should be enough to excite many and once we learn a bit more about what the team has planned for us with the upcoming third outing for the franchise, we’ll be sure to let you know.
