In Bruges writer/director Martin McDonagh is once again going to work with Colin Farrell. The director has written a film called Seven Psycopaths. He’s set to direct and Farrell is in place for the lead role. Joining Mr. Farrell will be Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken, not bad eh?
The film will tell the story of “a screenwriter (Farrell) struggling for inspiration for his script, ‘Seven Psychopaths’, who gets drawn into the dog kidnapping schemes of his oddball friends (Rockwell and Walken). Things take a turn for the worse when a gangster’s (Rourke) mutt goes missing.”
I loved In Bruges, McDonagh showed some rookie mistakes but he got a brilliant performance out of Colin Ferrell and the writing was very sharp and witty. The film earned a much-deserved Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and was thoroughly enjoyable. McDonagh was able to capture humor in both obvious and subtle ways through his writing and the film was one of the best of the year.
I’m very excited at the prospect of the two teaming up again, especially seeing as Walken, Rockwell and Rourke have signed on. This will be one to keep your eye on.
