After being rumored for the role of Moses in Ridley Scott’s big-budget Biblical epic Exodus, Christian Bale is now confirmed to take the lead. Furthermore, The Hollywood Reporter is telling us that Zero Dark Thirty star Joel Edgerton is in talks to go up against Bale in the film as the Egyptian ruler Ramses.
Penning the script are Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who were behind the comedies Accepted and Tower Heist. We know, it doesn’t make much sense to have these two writing something like this and it appears that 20th Century Fox thought the same, as they brought in Steve Zaillian (Schindler’s List) to do a re-write.
Of course, this isn’t the only high-profile Biblical epic in production right now. Darren Aronofsky has Noah, which is set to be released in 2014 as well. It will certainly be interesting to see how the two films compare as they both look tremendously promising.
With Bale and Edgerton set for Exodus, it’s time for the supporting cast to take shape. Considering the caliber of talent that’s already attached, I think that Fox will be able to lure in some pretty respectable names to fill out the rest of the roles. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
Exodus will shoot next month in Spain, Morocco and England and will be released on December 12th, 2014. Tell us, which film are you most looking forward to seeing? This one or Noah? Let us know in the comments section below.
