Chris Pratt Says James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Script Is Off The Chain

The controversial firing of James Gunn served as a major setback for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with the project being hit with a heavy delay as the studio searches for a director to replace the man who once kicked off this sci-fi saga with the 2014 original. Nonetheless, it’s been said that Disney still has every intention of using Gunn’s script for the project, and according to Chris Pratt, it’s a very fine screenplay at that.

“Yeah I have [read it]. It’s off the chain. It’s so good,” the Star-Lord actor told MTV News when asked if he’d read the script. The conversation then moved onto the matter of how Pratt feels about filming the threequel without Gunn’s involvement, and while the star has some kind words to say about his former collaborator, Pratt also argues that the show must go on:

“Well, I love James. I’m loyal to James and I love him so much. And we’re gonna, we’re gonna deliver the movie. We’re gonna, we’re gonna give the fans what they deserve. And I think it’s in the nature of the Guardians of the Galaxy to come together and get the job done.”

Given Pratt’s past work with Gunn and his continued involvement with Disney, you can imagine that the actor may be feeling in a pretty awkward position right now, though that certainly hasn’t stopped his co-star Dave Bautista from voicing his objections to the Mouse House loud and clear.

As it stands, it’s hard to say when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might find its director, let alone go into production, but in the meantime, you can expect to see Star-Lord again when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019. After that, we’ll be finding out how Gunn fares with another comic book property when the next Suicide Squad comes out August 6th, 2021.
