With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 less than two weeks away from release, the Marvel promotional machine is in full swing – everyone from James Gunn to the stars of the film are in media circus mode and spreading the word about the grand finale for the space-faring crew. That includes Chris Pratt, although his behind-the-scenes promo is a little more tongue-in-cheek, and even channels a little bit of his old “Andy Dwyer-ism.”
Pratt excitedly took to Twitter to announce he has finally been given the green light to share his cheeky “illegal” behind the scenes clip, in which the the star deliberately breaks a couple of rules on the film’s set:
The Peter Quill actor is seen in a drab hallway outside a sound stage, in which he outlines that he cannot enter the set when a red light on the wall is flashing because it means there is a shoot in progress, and he also cannot cross the threshold with a cell phone in hand.
Pratt ignores both rules, and crosses the threshold and briefly shows the back of what we’re presuming is a green screen. He then turns the camera on himself and says “I do what I want!” Someone call the police, we’ve got ourselves an outlaw.
Pratt putting this textbook display of silliness transported us back to his days as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation, in which he was also performing (mostly) harmless juvenile acts and being an all around menace.
Obviously, Pratt didn’t face any repercussions for his “rulebreaking” on the set, and didn’t end up getting the sack from his role. Like he was going to anyway. We’ll be catching up with Star-Lord and all of his pals when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023. It will also mark James Gunn’s Marvel swan song before he turns all of his energy and attention to revamping the DC Universe.
