Following the devastating climax of Avengers: Infinity War, the galaxy’s greatest heroes aren’t in the best place right now. Not only did they fail to stop Thanos from wiping out half the universe, but they lost many of their own, too – including such heavy-hitters as Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Vision and more. Still, at least some of the most powerful characters are still standing for Avengers 4, with Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and a few others looking to fix the damage done by the Mad Titan’s snap.
We don’t know too much about how they’ll do that just yet, but what we can tell you is that a number of the remaining heroes will be sporting new looks when we see them next, including Cap. Recent concept art that leaked out from the sequel pointed to Steve Rogers losing the beard and long hair, essentially ditching his Nomad guise and now, Chris Evans has confirmed this.
Taking to Twitter, the MCU star shared a photo of himself with his dog, and though it didn’t reveal much, it shows the actor clean-shaven and sporting a more traditional Cap look. There’s no doubt that this is how he’ll appear in the film, either, as he captioned it with the following: Senior year. #A4
Currently, Anthony and Joe Russo are busy putting the final touches on what’s sure to be the MCU’s most significant release to date, with reshoots for Avengers 4 taking place as we speak. And despite a few set photos leaking out, Marvel’s still managed to keep most of the plot details tightly under wraps.
We do know, however, that the titular supergroup will somehow be transported back to the Battle of New York featured in the first Avengers movie. Not to mention, it’s widely speculated that they’ll revisit events from other MCU films, too. Given that Cap will be looking a lot different the next time we see him, we imagine there will have been some sort of time jump as well, but until Marvel decides to open up on what they’ve got planned, all we can do is speculate.
Still, you can be sure that when Avengers 4 premieres on May 3rd, 2019, the MCU will never be the same again – for better or worse. Whatever happens, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will stay together, win or lose, and march forward into Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe… whatever it may contain.
