In full momma-insulting, goat-licking, baby-punching glory, Warner Bros. has just released the trailer for upcoming political comedy The Campaign with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis starring as two rival candidates. If you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about, just watch for yourself.
The Campaign comes from director Jay Roach who headed comedic franchises Austin Powers and Meet the Parents and is written by Chris Henchy, who is mainly known for his producing duties on shows Eastbound and Down and for Funny or Die.
In essence, The Campaign is just Step Brothers except the two aren’t living together; with two boy-men acting ridiculously in an escalating series of shenanigans and slapstick larks. If that’s your thing, then I can’t imagine you’ll hate this offering, but if you’ve grown tired of Ferrell’s bit then I won’t need to tell you to stay clear.
Personally, I think both Farrell (evoking Ron Burgundy sans a moustache) and Galifianakis (who is essentially doing his “brother Seth” bit on the big screen) are funny dudes, but it really comes down to the project and how strong the writing is. Tossing in Jason Sudeikis doesn’t hurt either.
