Robert De Niro may not be the exciting name he once was, due to his questionable career choices as of late, but every once in a while he does star in something that’s worth watching. He has Silver Linings Playbook coming up in November and he’s currently on set with director Luc Besson for the upcoming action film Malavita.
Co-starring in the “darkly comedic” action film are Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron and John D’Le. Though not much is known about the project just yet, we do know that it will tell “the story of the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way.”
With Besson at the helm, and a strong supporting cast, Malavita certainly sounds promising. Like I said above, De Niro doesn’t put out much quality lately but with this film, it looks like we may finally have a film from the legendary actor that’s worth seeing.
The film is headed into post-production shortly and is aiming for a 2013 release.
