As showcased during the never-before-seen audition tape above, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista displayed fleeting signs of chemistry early on as Star-Lord and the foreboding Drax the Destroyer, respectively. It’s a brilliant peek behind-the-scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy fans, and it’s hardly surprising that the casting of both Pratt and Bautista proved to be a shoo-in during the screening process.

Currently prepping for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is ready to enter production in Atlanta after the turn of the year, Pratt and Bautista will be reunited with their space-faring cohorts very soon indeed, and we’ve already seen some of the leading stars – namely Zoe Saldana – participating in early prep work for James Gunn’s sequel.

With Thanos finally being called into action in the aftermath of Age of Ultron, we can readily expect that the Mad Titan will feature in the 2017 follow-up, one which will hopefully reveal the true identity of Star-Lord’s father.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters on May 5, 2017. Pom Klementieff (Mantis?) toplines the newcomers.
