Horror fans and literary junkies won’t have to wait much longer to get their first glimpse at It: Chapter Two. While the first trailer for 2017’s It dropped in March – ahead of the film’s September release – that trend didn’t follow suit for its sequel, and Stephen King devotees have been waiting to feast their eyes on some footage. Thankfully, they won’t have to wait much longer.
Last week, producer Barbara Muschietti – whose brother is directing the movie – promised that a trailer was coming down the pipeline, and earlier this week, our faith was awarded after a billboard in Times Square revealed that a preview was set to release on May 9th. Details are scarce in regards to the brand new trailer, but if one author’s reactions are anything to go by, horror junkies are in for a real treat.
As reported by ComicBook.com, Stephen King himself took to Twitter to hype up the upcoming first glimpse, and it seems he even got a chance to watch the film for himself.
“Looking forward to IT CHAPTER 2? You should be. I’ve seen it, and it’s terrific. The trailer is coming Thursday, at noon. You’ll float.”
Better yet, the famed horror author also let fans know exactly when they should be expecting the video to drop. The trailer will arrive at 12 PM on Thursday, presumably Eastern Time, considering that King lives on the East Coast.
For those who don’t know, the film will pick up 27 years after the events of It. The Losers Club, in an effort to fulfill their promise to protect the world from Pennywise, return to the town of Derry in order to fend off evil once more. While the child actors and actresses from the first movie will be reprising their roles, a handful of A-list celebs have also joined the cast, seeing as how the film takes place decades after the first.
It: Chapter Two is set to release on September 6th, 2019 and will star James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader.
