Once 2017’s glimpse into the humble lives of Derry’s residents proved to be a box office juggernaut, it only made sense that studios scramble to get the next adaptation of a story penned by Stephen King up on the big screen, chief among which will be IT: Chapter Two. After all, it’s more than understandable that Pennywise continue leading the way as the horror keeps flowing.
And with production on the highly anticipated sequel commencing shortly (Deadline says recent reports stating filming has already begun were erroneous), key pieces of the puzzle are already falling into place, what with Andy Muschietti returning to direct, the kids from the first flick coming back in some capacity, along with the likes of Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean, Jay Ryan and James Ransone having signed up to play some of their adult counterparts.
Of course, there’ll naturally have to be other characters making up this tale aside from the Losers’ Club, which the casting department have been hard at work rounding up. In fact, one of the two just added to the equation has a connection to the bunch, as Will Beinbrink has been enlisted to play Tom Rogan, whom the diehards among you will recognize as being Beverly’s abusive lover in the novel and 1990’s TV miniseries. Though he’s placing himself in the shoes of a scoundrel, you have to think Beinbrink will be happy sharing the screen with Jessica Chastain.
Also in the mix is that of Xavier Dolan, who’s accepted the role of Adrian Mellon, a gay man living in Derry that’s been forced to endure harsh treatment from bullies. Right now, no other information has been provided about this character, but we’ll keep you posted.
IT: Chapter Two opens in theaters on theaters on September 6, 2019.
