Channing Tatum is undoubtedly an actor who relishes his work and stretches his acting chops in a variety of roles, despite having a name that’s the wrong way round. Whether he’s delivering comedy schtick in 21 Jump Street, romantic silliness in Dear John or going all-out action in upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation, it’s hard to deny he’s got star quality.
In what is being touted as Steven Soderbergh‘s last film, Side Effects, this time he plays a doting husband to a woman who’s a bit unpredictable and we can catch a glimpse of that in the first trailer.
Side Effects sees Soderbergh joining forces again with his writer from The Informant! and Contagion, Scott Z. Burns. This time around the story is based around Emily, played by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘s Rooney Mara, who resorts to a new prescription drug to help calm her anxieties surrounding her husband’s imminent release from prison. Then someone gets murdered. They always do, don’t they?
This first trailer, courtesy of Yahoo! movies, reveals quite the web of lies, deceit and pill-popping with sizable roles included for Jude Law, who starred in Soderbergh’s Contagion, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. You can check it out below.
Side Effects is due in theatres February 8th, 2013.
