Hollywood’s favourite new odd couple, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, are soon to be gracing our cinema screens once again in comedy sequel, 22 Jump Street. With just over a month to go before their two dunderheaded cops Schmidt and Jenko are back on the beat, Sony’s dropped the international trailer to further entice audiences.
Suffice to say, if you’ve seen any of the previous trailers it’s likely you’ve witnessed the main surge of chuckles on offer. Thankfully, there’s still enough new footage here of the two rookies back on campus, investigating another drug-related incident. Of course, this time around it’s spring break, so cue gratuitous shots of half-naked girlies shaking their thang while the boys in blue crack crime and bad gags.
It’s winning stuff – with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller sticking firmly to the “if it ain’t broke…” formula. The original feature, 21 Jump Street, proved a huge hit with critics and at the box office, and it looks like they’re hoping to recapture the same magic by the looks of things.
Check out the official synopsis below, watch the brand spankin’ new trailer and prepare thyself for what could be the summer’s sleeper hit.
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
22 Jump Street lands in US cinemas June 13th.
