/Film is reporting that director Catherine Hardwicke is looking to work with actress Noomi Rapace on a boxing film revolving around Swedish boxer Bo “Bosse” Hogberg. Rapace and her ex-husband Ola Rapace have been attached to the project for a while and Ola is set to play Hogberg while Rapace will take the role of Hogberg’s wife, Anita Lindblom.
“I have another project that looks like it’s going to go first,” Hardwicke said. “It’s in Sweden and Germany, and it’s really wild. I can’t quite talk about it, but we’ll probably do the announcement in a couple of weeks. It’s a very fun, very crazy story that goes back to more of my ‘Thirteen’ days. It’s more indie, raw and gritty, and it’s a true story.”
Catherine Hardwicke, while once praised for her indie films like Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown, hasn’t seen much success lately. Her latest film, Red Riding Hood, was panned by critics and audiences alike.
She did direct the first Twilight film but I wouldn’t exactly call that a critical success. Between this Swedish boxing film and The Bitch Posse, which is another one of Hardwicke’s upcoming film, hopefully she’ll be able to find something that works for her.
As for Rapace, she’ll be seen next in Prometheus, the upcoming film from Ridley Scott. She’ll also be seen in the next Sherlock Holmes film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Between the two, her fame in North America will continue to grow and I expect that she’ll continue to appear in high profile projects. Hollywood has taken notice of her ever since her breakout role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (and its sequels) and she’s well on her way to the Hollywood A-list.
