Contrary to popular belief, it appears Captain Marvel is just beginning to set up shop in Los Angeles – new California tax incentives drew Marvel Studios away from its home base in Atlanta – and we now have a couple of on-set photos of Brie Larson to prove it.
The actress, who has been busy immersing herself in the military lore of Carol Danvers, can be seen reporting for duty in the gallery below, though anyone hoping for a close-up of her star-spangled suit will be disappointed.
Captain Marvel is still gestating in the formative stages of development, after all, and Marvel Studios still has other matters to attend to – namely Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp – before it devotes its full attention to the Brie Larson-fronted spinoff.
What we do know, however, is that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will be calling the shots from behind the lens, and that it shouldn’t be too much longer before we have some real, tangible set photos for you to peruse. Until then, this pair of stills from MCU Exchange will have to do, unfortunately. You can check them out in the gallery below, along with those aforementioned ones of Larson on the military base:
The wheels are in motion, then, and though the mere sight of Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) in recent set snaps was enough to place Marvel fans on red alert, it’s clear that those in charge want to keep any and all story details under wraps for the foreseeable future.
Featuring a story from Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who was brought in to flesh out the original treatment from Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, Captain Marvel will be with us on March 8th, 2019. One glance at the MCU slate will tell you that that date is smack bang in the middle of Infinity War and Avengers 4, and we’ve since learned that Carol Danvers is ostensibly a shoo-in for the latter Marvel tentpole.
