Carol Danvers’ arrival in the MCU was first hyped up in the post-credits of Avengers: Infinity War, and now it seems that Captain Marvel will be returning the favor with a last-minute tease of the adventure to come in Avengers: Endgame.
Last night, the social media embargo lifted on Captain Marvel, prompting a stream of positive responses to flood Twitter. Sonaiya Kelley from the LA Times, for instance, praised the work as “an effective Avengers prequel” in the vein of Captain America: The First Avenger, before admitting to getting “goosebumps” from the film’s post-credits content. Kelley went on to specify that the Brie Larson-led flick contains “two post credits scenes that are worth staying for and the anticipation for ENDGAME is definitely stoked by this film.”
After the cliffhanger ending of Infinity War, and given the insane levels of hype around the sequel, not including a post-credits Endgame tease in Captain Marvel would be almost sadistic. Indeed, given Carol Danvers’ confirmed involvement in the Russo Brothers’ upcoming film, it’s hardly surprising to hear that her solo debut will somehow tie into her next big screen outing, but still, it’s nice to get some clarification that audiences sticking around past the credits for Endgame material won’t come up short.
So far, the marketing for Anthony and Joe Russo’s ensemble actioner has seemingly gone out of its way to avoid any footage of Carol, leaving the fans to speculate on just what her role in the Phase 3 finale might be. As such, there’ll no doubt be much to learn when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019, before Avengers: Endgame finally answers all our questions when it comes out on April 26th.
