Fan Theory Suggests Marvel’s Quantum Realm Connects Captain Marvel With Ant-Man And The Wasp

A new theory compiled by Screen Rant suggests both Captain Marvel and this year's Ant-Man and the Wasp will have ties to the Quantum Realm.

Marvel’s Quantum Realm is supposedly the glue which binds Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel and the so-far untitled Avengers 4.

First introduced in Peyton Reed’s original Ant-Man, the so-called Quantum Realm is a bottomless pit that exists between the known and the unknown. It’s an alternate dimension, essentially, one in which “all concepts of time and space become irrelevant.” So it’s no wonder Janet Van Dyne (AKA the original Wasp) has been AWOL for so long.

And that’s just it. We know from previous intel that the search for Hope’s wayward mother will form the basis of Ant-Man and the Wasp, while Captain Marvel‘s use of the Quantum Realm is expected to give a “better understanding of Carol Danvers and her place in the MCU.”

With that in mind, perhaps it’s all related? Perhaps the MCU’s nebulous Quantum Realm is the connective tissue between Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and the Wasp and next year’s Avengers sequel? That’s the latest Marvel theory being pedaled by Screen Rant.

It’s pretty compelling, too, as it claims the Quantum Realm will become a gateway of-sorts that allows the likes of Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – to dabble with time travel for Avengers 4, which is the hot theory currently doing the rounds online after fans spotted a number of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes decked out in their Phase One attire.

Also among the mix? Ant-Man, who wasn’t actually present during the Battle of New York. So many questions, so few answers…

Ant-Man-Avengers-4

Adding fuel to the fire is this previous interview with the Russo Brothers, in which the directing duo acknowledges the narrative ties between Infinity War, Avengers 4 and the two MCU movies sandwiched in between.

Put yourself in our positions two years ago. We’re looking at a blank wall, and it says Avengers 3, Ant-Man and [the] Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4. So there are four big shoeboxes, and we’re responsible for the bookends. As we’re going through deciding what we want to do, we have these two shoeboxes in the middle that you can either look at as burdens or opportunities.

We’ll likely be able to form a better understanding of the Quantum Realm, and its growing importance to the MCU, once Ant-Man and the Wasp scurries into theaters in July.
