The Playlist is reporting that Marvel’s First Avenger has earned himself a release date and logline. Captain America 2 will be hitting theatres on April 4th, 2014.
The film is still without a director, though the search is on and while there is no official plot, the logline for the film reads “Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.” I know, way to state the obvious right? At the very least it lets us know that unlike the first film, Captain America 2 won’t be a period piece.
That’s all that is known at this point but with a 2014 release date, you can be sure that Marvel will have plenty of time to get their cannon all sorted out and put all the pieces in place for the inevitable Avengers sequel, as well as the inevitable cameos that will pop up in Captain America 2.
I find it interesting that Marvel is placing the film in April. Although by doing so, they avoid the blockbuster bonanza that starts in June and thus, Captain America 2 will likely dominate the box office.
For those wondering what Marvel’s upcoming slate looks like, here you go:
- The Avengers on May 4th, 2012
- Iron Man 3 on May 3rd, 2013
- Thor 2 on November 15th, 2013
- Captain America 2 on April 4th 2014
- Untitled Marvel 2 on May 16th 2014
