Starting 2017 off on the right note, Warner Bros. has released a brief new promo for The LEGO Batman Movie, which features the Caped Crusader wishing us all a "Happy New Year." Actually, at first we get Bruce Wayne on screen, but after a quick second he changes into his iconic costume and adds, "from Batman." It may not give us anything from the actual film itself, but it’s a fun, cute video and follows nicely in line with the one that Warner Bros. released for Christmas. It’s also yet another piece of what’s been a clever, exciting marketing campaign, which has brought us some awesome posters, clips and trailers that all highlight The LEGO Batman Movie‘s irreverent spirit, the same one which made The LEGO Movie so much fun.

In a year that also includes animated efforts like Despicable Me 3, Cars 3 and Captain Underpants, among others, Warner Bros.’ upcoming film is doing all it can to stick out and so far, it’s working. Set to be quite different from what we’re seeing with Ben Affleck’s take on the character over in the DCEU, this version of Batman is still somber and brooding, but also comically dark. When mixed with the general silliness that’s found in the LEGO series, not to mention the gorgeous animation, it should make for a pretty enjoyable romp and probably one of the first real treats of 2017.

The LEGO Batman Movie will make its way into theaters on February 10th, where it’ll face competition from Fifty Shades Darker and the Keanu Reeves-led John Wick: Chapter 2. Regardless of how the film does, the future still looks bright for Warner’s bustling LEGO universe, what with the aforementioned LEGO Ninjago Movie (September 22, 2017) and The LEGO Movie 2 (February 8, 2019) also coming our way.
