Hot on the heels of yesterday’s blood-curdling poster is the very first trailer for Ciaran Foy’s Sinister 2, which witnesses the return of the malevolent demon Bughuul for another bout of supernatural horror.
Boasting a decidedly retro theme, the follow-up once again orbits around disturbing reels of celluloid that appear to harbor a very dark and sinister – no pun intended – brand of evil. Having taken control at the helm following Scott Derrickson’s move to Marvel to take the reigns of Doctor Strange, Foy will be working on a script based from Derrickson himself and C. Robert Cargill, who both worked on the original 2012 sleeper hit.
In lieu of Ethan Hawke’s writer and his tortured family, Sinister 2 will shift the focus to a new group; specifically, a mother of two who soon finds that her humble abode is the between the crosshairs of evil. Essentially a revised take on the boogeyman, Bughuul has a peculiar connection to children both old and new, and this will likely be further explored when the sequel makes its bow in the summer. Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, and Robert and Dartanian Sloan are all on board to star.
Sinister 2 will loom into theaters on August 21. For now, you can let us know your early impressions of the horror sequel through the comments section below.
The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity.
