With David Ayer occupying Toronto with his Suicide Squad, the heroes in a half-shell taking the Big Apple for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and Bryan Singer overseeing what may very well be his last entry into the franchise with X-Men: Apocalypse in Montreal, a lot of next year’s biggest films are already in active production across North America.
Now, hot on the heels of yesterday’s somewhat obscure set photos, director Bryan Singer has shared an image from the latter film that showcases stars Sophie Turner and Lana Condor in costume as Jean Grey and Jubilee, respectively.
In keeping with the guise of Nightcrawler et al. from Monday’s reveal, both actresses are sporting 80s garb for Apocalypse, which is set to feature a host of mutants in their younger years. If today’s photo is any indication, then long-time fans of the X-Men can look forward to seeing the remainder of the cast with confidence, as both Jean Grey and Jubilee’s costumes are a neat homage to generations past.
X-Men: Apocalypse will pit the mutants up against the titular big bad – played by The Force Awakens star Oscar Isaac – who looks to bring down an Old Testament-styled wave of destruction upon the earth once he’s rounded up his four horsemen. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult will all reprise their roles in the hotly-anticipated sequel, with newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Lana Condor topping off the ensemble.
Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse is still a ways away, with the ambitious sequel pegged for May 27, 2016. In the meantime, you can share your early impressions of the film’s 80s set-up down below.
