Captain Marvel Star Brie Larson’s Awesome Oscar Photo Goes Viral

The 91st Academy Awards ceremony was a big night for Marvel Studios, not just for the three Oscars won by Black Panther, but also for the many MCU actors who got on stage to announce the winners, from Chris Evans to Paul Rudd to Chadwick Boseman. Even Captain Marvel co-stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson showed up to present the awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay, the latter of which saw Spike Lee finally nab his first competitive Oscar for his work on BlackKkKlansman.

You can imagine it was a pretty great moment for the Do the Right Thing helmsman, but in a subsequent picture snapped of Lee, Jackson and Larson together, it was the last of the three who really looked happy to be there. As you can see below, the Oscar-winning lead of 2015’s Room is displaying the biggest grin in the picture, which is ironic given the criticism from certain corners of the internet that Captain Marvel doesn’t smile enough in the trailers. Larson herself has since shared the picture with the two-word caption, “SO RAD.”

With Carol Danvers’ solo debut just over a week away from reaching cinemas, the online backlash to the movie is greater than ever, but the positive buzz suggests a critical and commercial hit regardless. Once the social media embargo lifted last week, Twitter quickly flooded with glowing responses to the film, and you can expect this warm reception to continue once the review embargo lifts on March 5th.

Meanwhile, Fandango reported more than two weeks in advance of release that Captain Marvel had already surpassed Aquaman and Wonder Woman in pre-sales. Needless to say, this bodes very well for the Larson-led flick, but the real test comes when the film hits theaters on March 8th.
