Ahead of its Christmas Day release, Warner Bros. has taken to Twitter to drop a brand new clip from Clint Eastwood’s war drama, American Sniper.

In the movie, Bradley Cooper stars as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, whose experiences in Iraq as a gifted sniper saw him rack up an astonishing record across his four military tours. Earning the tag of the most lethal U.S. gunman in the conflict, he became a target for the enemy. Returning home, the effects of his time away are revealed to have left significant mental scars. The above clip showcases Kyle on the ground, dealing with the logistics of the war effort along with a fellow SEAL.

While it’s certainly a very interesting premise, that’s based on a true story, critics haven’t been raving about the film. Cooper’s portrayal has earned the heftiest portion of praise, but the tone of the movie itself is said to be unbalanced at best. Early talk had this picture marked for awards success, which is now seeming unlikely. Either way, we’ll find out if it fires straight and true when American Sniper opens in selected theatres on December 25th.

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world.

Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the spirit of the SEAL creed to “leave no one behind.” But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.
