Bradley Cooper is now on the promotional tour for his new science fiction inflected blockbuster Limitless. Today he stepped in with Empire Magazine to talk in a Web Chat and someone asked him about a possible sequel to the A-Team reboot. Unfortunately, it won’t be happening, and of course with it being a studio picture it all came down to the numbers.
He got asked: “Any news on the A-Team 2? Will there be one? I thought it was great and my friends felt the same.” His response:
I loved it too. But unfortunately, outside of you, a few of your friends and myself, there just wasn’t enough revenue to supply a second instalment of that franchise.
It is true that it was a risk to bring back a TV show from the 80s whose core audience is probably now in their mid to late thirties pushing forties, and no matter how many sky diving tanks you put in it, the mainstream audience with a core demographic of 16 – 24 year old males didn’t take to it. The production budget was a reported $110 million and only took $77 million domestically and made $100 million on top of that worldwide. It wasn’t a cataclysmic hit or not the hit that Fox would have wanted. So sorry for fans of The A-Team, you won’t be seeing them again, probably.
