Though we wouldn’t put any money on Daniel Radcliffe being the next Wolverine, the internet has lately seemed quite taken with the idea, if only with tongue firmly in cheek, and in response to the recent rumor/meme, popular fan artist BossLogic has offered their impression of how the casting might look.
Though it remains debatable whether Radcliffe really has a Wolverine-style performance in him, the new artwork at least does an admirable job at making the Harry Potter actor look the part, between the thick beard, the tank top, and of course, the adamantium claws. At the same time, BossLogic apparently couldn’t resist the urge to throw in a nod to Radcliffe’s most famous role, adding a lightning scar to the actor’s forehead.
The idea of Radcliffe playing Wolverine has picked up momentum lately after the star took part in a Wired Autocomplete Interview. In response to the popular Google search question “Is Daniel Radcliffe the new Wolverine?,” the actor joked that an upcoming film will see Hugh Jackman being put into a hot wash that results in Radcliffe coming out the other end. But while Daniel may see himself as too short for the role, many sticklers for comic book accuracy would argue that Jackman was actually too tall.
Regardless, seeing how the Disney/Fox merger is still a few months away from coming into effect, it’ll likely be some wait before we hear an official casting announcement for the next Wolverine, though X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently mentioned that Marvel will be looking for a younger actor to play the part. But whoever Disney ends up settling on for the role, you can bet that the star will face an uphill battle trying to earn the acceptance of fans who’ve got all too used to seeing Jackman donning the claws.
