The next James Bond film, currently known as Bond 23, has locked in Naomie Harris, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes. All three have been circling the project for some time but today the trio of actors have officially signed on.
Reports put Harris in the role of Moneypenny, M’s assistant at MI6. As for Bardem and Fiennes, Bardem will likely take on a villain role and Fiennes’ role is said to be a bit complex. Source close to the film tell us that “the part is one of extreme complexity and only an actor of great ability and dexterity can take it on.”
The way Bond 23 is shaping up, this could be the best one in ages. With Daniel Craig in the lead and Harris, Bardem and Fiennes locked in to support him, there is some serious talent here. Plus there’s also Dame Judi Dench who has confirmed that she will be returning to the series.
Personally, I’m most excited for Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes. I’m a big fan of their work and am both surprised and intrigued by their involvement with the newest Bond film.
Neither seem like the type that would join a film like this but I guess the script was just that good. Or maybe it’s because of director Sam Mendes‘ involvement. Whatever the case may be, I’m looking forward to Bond 23.
I haven’t been impressed with a Bond film in a while and hopefully 007’s 23rd outing will change that. I still yearn for the days of classic Bond with Sean Connery or Roger Moore. We don’t get that anymore and I really haven’t enjoyed a James Bond film in some time.
With this cast though and Mendes behind the camera, the film does have a lot of potential. Let’s hope that they can capitalize on it.
Bond 23 hits theaters on November 9th, 2012.
