Blumhouse’s Halloween Is Coming To HBO NOW Tomorrow

HBO's latest attempt at recovering subscribers after the Game of Thrones finale seems to be bringing Halloween to their streaming service, HBO NOW.

Halloween 2018

Now that Game of Thrones has officially ended, HBO has been looking for ways to make sure people don’t cancel their account. Though they probably aren’t sweating in their seats, given that they have other shows like WestworldBig Little Lies, and Chernobyl to rely on in their arsenal, they’ve surely been taking a hit since GoT concluded.

Perhaps this news will help influence horror fans to stay on board with HBO for at least a little while longer, then: David Gordon Green’s reboot of the classic series, Halloween, will be available on HBO NOW as of tomorrow.

The Blumhouse production, which may be getting a sequel, premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews, scoring a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes – the second highest of the franchise, behind the 1978 original.

Featuring the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as former babysitter Laurie Strode, Halloween quickly surpassed Wes Craven’s Scream as the highest grossing slasher movie of all time, and ended its box office run with over $250 million worldwide.

Made off of only a $10 million budget, it makes total sense that producer Jason Blum would want a sequel as soon as possible. But he’s not the only want to extend their support for another Michael Myers outing. Actor Nick Castle, one of the two people who played “The Shape” in the 2018 remake, and the man who brought the killer to life in John Carpenter’s original film, has said he’d love to reprise the role again.

“I’d love to. Yeah, of course. It’s a lot of fun. I think the fans enjoy it quite a bit, knowing them now from these conventions and stuff like that. And of course, it would still have to be something I would be happy and proud to be part of. We’ll see if they can pull together a good script.”

Nothing is official yet in terms of a Halloween sequel, but let us know if that’s something you’d like to see. Reach out in the comments section below and give us your thoughts. And be sure to check out the horror movie on HBO NOW starting tomorrow.
