Variety has announced that Blake Lively has officially passed on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is currently set to be directed by Craig Gillespie, who’s best known for Fright Night, which has so far failed at the box office.
Lively, who starred in Ben Affleck’s The Town, has been getting some very high profile film offers as of late, and has tested for The Great Gatsby, The Dark Knight Rises and The Silving Linings Playbook. Taking that into account, it’s no real surprise that she passed on the project. Plus, Lively is currently filming Oliver Stone’s Savages and the CW’s Gossip Girl.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has been haunted since day one, with the film going through several leading actresses, which included Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone, not too mention another two directors, one of which was David O. Russell.
There is now a cloud of doubt concerning whether or not the film will get made at all, and something tells me it isn’t looking likely with the amount of people steering clear from the satirical take on the famous Jane Austin novel.
Do you think that the project will finally get off the ground, or is this the death of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?
