ScarJo Heads Into The Woods In New Black Widow Set Photos

A series of new set photos from the standalone Black Widow movie have emerged online, this time placing ScarJo's secret agent in the woods.

Black Widow Avengers: Endgame

In this post-Endgame MCU, few things are certain – you know, aside from Spider-Man: Far From Home and the standalone Black Widow movie that has now begun filming across parts of Europe.

Natasha Romanoff herself, Scarlett Johansson, was spotted last week in Norway, though new set photos uncovered by Splash News (h/t The Daily Mail) place ScarJo’s secret agent in some mysterious woodland area near Buckinghamshire. They’re not particularly exciting, mind you, but they do at least provide some more evidence that the Black Widow prequel movie will be set sometime between Civil War and Avengers: Endgame – just look at the Apple headphones.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that director Cate Shortland plans to flashback to Natasha’s troubled childhood, similar to how Joss Whedon fleshed out the character’s backstory during Age of Ultron.

In any case, see if you can spy any pertinent plot details down below:

Casting-wise, we know Johansson will be returning to the role, and this time around, she’s bringing a slew of new faces into the MCU. Chief among them is Rachel Weisz of The Favourite, while there’s also room in Black Widow‘s ranks for Hellboy and Stranger Things star David Harbour. Florence Pugh (Little Drummer Girl) is also said to be involved, and will play the rival assassin and “moral opposite” of Natasha. Finally, Marvel Studios has seemingly earmarked a role for The Handmaid’s Tale‘s OT Fagbenle.

The standalone Black Widow movie does not yet have a release date, but we’ll let you know if and when that changes. Common logic dictates that Marvel Studios has reserved May 1st, 2020 for Natasha Romanoff, though there’s been no official announcement at the time of going to press.
