Even though the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t kicked off yet, fans are already looking ahead to the chapter that will come after. The highly-anticipated fifth phase is expected to be chock full of great movies. Among these are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2, Blade, another Avengers film and more. Perhaps most exciting out of all of these potential flicks though is the expected release of Black Panther 2. And though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it looks like the sequel could be headed for a February 18th, 2022 premiere date.
Audiences have been yearning for this movie ever since Black Panther changed the landscape of film back in 2018. The stellar standalone outing for T’Challa shattered box office records on its way to multiple Oscar wins, proving to executives once and for all that a big budget blockbuster with a diverse cast can succeed when given the chance. The next installment of the franchise has the potential to perform even better, too, which is why everyone’s so excited to see it.
Details about the follow-up have been scarce thus far, though it’s known that Killmonger will not be returning. Instead, the movie will have a new villain that’s trying to lead Wakanda astray. Furthermore, Danai Gurira will be coming back as Okoye, along with most of the original cast.
These release date rumors also claim that the next Guardians of the Galaxy installment will pop into theaters on May 6th, 2022. It’s been said that “something big” will be released on either May 3rd or 10th of 2024 as well. The content of this mystery release is anyone’s guess, though some have speculated that it has something to do with the Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer or even Secret Wars. Still, details on that particular project remain fuzzy.
It’s worth noting that these rumors can often be false. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that it was reported that Black Panther 2 would be coming out in 2021. Either way though, any intel about the sequel is still exciting and worth discussing and hopefully, Marvel gives fans more information soon so that they can start looking forward to the next Battle of Wakanda.
