Benedict Cumberbatch recently announced that Doctor Strange will be back in the MCU very soon as he is involved in an upcoming Marvel project in 2024. While it’s currently unknown what that project will be, fans began to speculate about his role in the Multiverse Saga and how it will impact the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Over on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit, fans discussed what Doctor Strange‘s role could be during the events of Phase Five and Six. The last time we saw this Marvel sorcerer was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when Clea told Strange that his actions caused an incursion and he needed to fix it.
One popular theory suggested that Doctor Strange’s actions would be at the center of the multiverse saga, and just like Tony Stark and Captain America, it will be up to him to save the world. This was supported by evidence found in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he had to fix the cracks that opened during the film’s climax. Fans believe that a similar situation may occur in the last two Avengers films.
Others believed that Doctor Strange would become the “Avengers’ only hope” since he is “the only top guy left.” While there’s also Wanda Maximoff, it’s currently unknown if she is alive or not. Additionally, other Marvel superheroes like Ms. Marvel and Captain America don’t possess powers that could fix the multiverse. Some suggest that the people on Team Ant-Man could help, but most signs point towards Doctor Strange.
It is currently unknown which film will feature Strange. Some speculate it could be Deadpool 3 because of the rumored Deadpool and Wolverine variants appearing. Meanwhile, others believe it could be for a potential Shang-Chi sequel. Whatever the case may be, fingers crossed that Cumberbatch’s future appearance will provide clues about the future of Marvel’s ongoing story.
