James Gunn isn’t set to reassemble his ragtag crew until early 2016, when production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will set up shop in Atlanta, but already Zoe Saldana has shared a behind-the-scenes photo that reveals the transformation process required to turn her into the badass martial arts maestro, Gamora.
Steeped in lime-green goo, Saldana appears to be having a facial cast prepared for the make-up department to work their wonders, which will likely be used for VFX effects later down the line once the galactic sequel is incubating in post-production.
[zerg]Aside from Saldana, we know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will welcome back Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Groot (Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Dave Bautista as the irreverent Drax the Destroyer. Pom Klementieff is a newcomer to the star-studded cast, with rumors claiming she could step into the fray as a new Guardian: Mantis.

This isn’t the only news pertaining to James Gunn’s sequel to hit the interwebs this week; just yesterday, an unconfirmed nugget threatened to send the rumor mill into overdrive when it claimed to reveal the true identity of Star-Lord/Peter Quill’s father. As a matter of fact, the tidbit began to garner such attention that it spurred Gunn to take to his Facebook page in order to set the record straight.
Per James Gunn: “The rumors surrounding Quill’s parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren’t even close to the truth. I don’t know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn’t through legitimate sources.”
With mixtape vol. 2 in tow, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will blast into theaters in time for May 5, 2017.
